'Algo azul' premieres in Los Ángeles

Algo Azul, the debut film by Master in Film Directing and Master in Production Management alumni Mariel García Spooner, will have its World Premiere at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival on 5 June at the TCL Chinese Theatres.

This romantic comedy began to take shape in the Master’s Degree in Film Directing at ESCAC in 2015 and finally, after a long journey, now has its world premiere. Congratulations, Mariel! The film is a co-production between Panama and Colombia and has gone through several development programmes, including the San Sebastian Film Festival. It also received funding for its production from the Ibermedia Programme, in the categories of Development and Co-production together with Clap Studios from Colombia. Algo Azul is a winning project of the Panama Film Fund.


Ana’s wedding dress ends up ruined a week before her wedding. At the hotel where she works she finds the dress of her dreams in one of the rooms. Tempted, she decides to try it on and is discovered by Lucia, the owner of the dress. Ana escapes from the hotel dressed as a bride and decides that she must get married that very day. Now she will start a fun race where she will have to convince her fiancé and manage to put everything together before she is caught, all at the same time as she becomes a media phenomenon. On this trip Ana meets up with her ex-boyfriend Rodrigo and reflects on true love.
