Spanish Cinema Month at ESCAC
The ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) joins the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, by which the 6th of October will be the Day of Spanish Cinema, through a series of activities that will begin on that day and will continue throughout the month of October.
Thus, the ESCAC’s Spanish Film Month will kick off on 6 October with an event open to the public at the Cines Catalunya in Terrassa, where the ESCAC is based, with the screening of the short film and feature film AMA, both directed by graduate Júlia de Paz, who will attend the presentation, along with members of the technical team, to participate in a talk with the film critic and ESCAC professor Sergi Sánchez.
After this first event, the school is organising the ESCAC Sitges Week, which will take place from 11 to 16 October within the framework of the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, whereby all the academic activity moves to Sitges where the school’s students will have the opportunity to attend daily screenings and participate in master classes, talks and be immersed in a first-rate festival in contact with the industry.
In addition, on October 12th, 14th and 15th at the Mercat Vell in Sitges, the ESCAC is setting up the ESCAC Fantastic Film Academy to bring the rules and regulations of fantastic and horror genre audiovisual narrative to secondary schools, an event organized in collaboration with Cine Base.
In addition, throughout the month of October at ESCAC there will be Fila Zero, a cycle of short and feature films made by the students, with the participation of their creators. This activity will be free of charge, with prior reservation of a place.
