Informative session: Master in Documentary Filmmaking

With the advent of new broadcasting platforms, the documentary is in a period of transformation and adaptation that represents a great opportunity for storytellers. Today, more than ever, the documentary offers a very important vision of all the realities of this world, being for the first time accessible to the hardest-to-reach markets. With ESCAC’s Master’s Degree in Documentary Filmmaking you will get the tools, both theoretical and practical, to develop successfully in this industry.

Next Tuesday 22nd June at 19:30h we will offer an online information session to present the Master in Documentary Filmmaking and answer any questions you may have.

We will have the presence of Orlando Arriagada (director and producer of documentaries and director of the Master); Ivan Chamorro (alumni of the Master and director of “Copito de nieve. From the other side of the glass“, one of the projects that came out of the previous edition of the Master’s) and Jaen Mújica (Master’s alumni and producer of the Lab Zona Doc ESCAC).

The session will take place via ZOOM next Tuesday 22nd June at 19:30h. It is essential to register for the event to receive the invitation.

About the Master

The ESCAC Master’s programme in Documentary Filmmaking provides students with an immersion in the practical and theoretical dimensions of the different formats of today’s documentary.

As creatives developing in a media landscape that is being transformed by new technologies, we are aware of the importance of better understanding how we can position our documentaries in a broader and more viable context. The diversification of formats and the opening of markets allow us to propose diverse stories and content. The boundaries, in terms of content, language, territory and medium are now very narrow. This change can be perceived as a creative source and can be materialised through the content of a programme made up of three main axes, which are our main bases.

  • The way stories are told (the formats)
  • How the stories are seen (the platforms)
  • Who we tell the stories to (the market)
