The winners are chosen by a vote of the members of the Film Independent organisation and the nominees and winners of previous editions.<\/p>\n<p>One of the night&#8217;s winners was <strong>Passing<\/strong> , the debut feature by actress <strong>Rebecca Hall<\/strong> (Iron Man 3, A Rainy Day in New York), which won Best Supporting Actress for Ruth Negga and <strong>Best Cinematography<\/strong> for graduate<strong> Edu Grau<\/strong> (Buried, A Single Man, Sufragists, Qui\u00e9n te cantar\u00e1, The Way Back).<\/p>\n<p>The black-and-white cinematography is one of the most acclaimed elements of the film, a racial drama set in 1920s New York.<\/p>\n<p>Synopsis: America, 1920s.
