{"id":42019,"date":"2018-11-09T13:19:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T13:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/escac.com\/?p=42019"},"modified":"2022-11-03T13:50:52","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T13:50:52","slug":"escac-presents-the-book-muertes-creativas-en-el-cine-by-joan-marimon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/escac.com\/en\/noticias\/escac-presents-the-book-muertes-creativas-en-el-cine-by-joan-marimon\/","title":{"rendered":"ESCAC presents the book \u2018Muertes creativas en el cine\u2019 by Joan Marim\u00f3n"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona<\/strong> and <strong>ESCAC<\/strong> present the book &#8220;<em><strong>Muertes creatives en el cine<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; (Creative Deaths in Cinema) by the editing professor <strong>Joan Marim\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The book theorises the function of death in cinematographic narrative and analyses more than two hundred emblematic deaths in the seventh art, from the massacre on the <em>Odessa stairs in Battleship Potemkin<\/em>, the gorilla in <em>King Kong<\/em> shot down by planes, the murder of the shower in <em>Psycho<\/em> to <em>The Godfather III<\/em> and <em>Blade Runner<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Joan Marim\u00f3n considers that &#8220;<em>death is, together with sex, the fundamental dramatic motor of cinematographic fiction due to its cathartic and transforming power, since its apparently negative meaning is linked to the promise of rebirth that it carries implicitly<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The presentation of the book<\/strong> &#8220;<em>Muertes creatives en el cine<\/em>&#8221; will take place on <strong>13 November at 7pm at the Cines Girona <\/strong>(Barcelona), with the participation of the filmmaker Roser Aguilar, the editor of <em>Campanadas a medianoche<\/em>, Elena Jaumenadreu and the editor Jaume Mart\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Joan Marim\u00f3n Padrosa (El Prat de Llobregat, 1960), a graduate in Art History, teaches film editing at the ESCAC and at the Centro de Capacitaci\u00f3n Cinematogr\u00e1fica (CCC) in Mexico City.
