01.02.18 - Escac talent,

This coming Saturday, 3 February, the Goya Awards of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be awarded and, once again, our graduates and Master’s alumni are among the nominees. In this 32nd edition, the categories with ESCAC talent are editing and short films:

  • Laura Ferrés por Los desheredados (Short Film Documentary)
  • Carlos Solano (Master in Film Directing alumni) por Extraños en la carretera (Short Film Fiction)
  • Ana Pfaff por Estiu 1993 (Editing)
  • David Gallart por Abracadabra (Editing)

Laura Ferrés and Ana Pfaff won last Sunday the Gaudí Award of the Catalan Film Academy for the same works for which they are nominated for the Goya Awards; Best Short Film for Los desheredados and Best Editing for Estiu 1993.

ESCAC graduates have so far obtained more than 40 nominations in the technical categories and 19 Goya Awards, with the three obtained in the new director category (J.A. Bayona in 2007, Mar Coll in 2009 and Kike Maíllo in 2011) being especially noteworthy. On RTVE this week they have talked about ESCAC as a quarry of film professionals in our country, here you can see the report.

We wish them all the best of luck.
