The students participating in this year’s edition of ESCAC’s Opera Prima Programme (directors, screenwriters and producers) have travelled to Oviedo to attend the meeting of Martin Scorsese, 2018 Princess of Asturias Award, with young filmmakers.

The old Fábrica de Armas de La Vega has become the Scorsese Factory to host more than 30 cultural events to pay tribute to the director, including a meeting with young filmmakers from different film schools in the country on 18 October, organised by the Princess of Asturias Foundation.

The event began with the screening of El origen del cinematógrafo, followed by a meeting with the director moderated by Rodrigo Cortés, in which his career, his relationship with the industry and the more technical and narrative aspects of his work were discussed in depth. After the talk, the young filmmakers attended a screening of Las Zapatillas Rojas and a concert by Elle Belga inspired by Scorsese’s filmography.
