The Alumni Laura Ferrés makes history at the Seminci with ‘La Imatge Permanent’

30.10.23 - School,Escac talent,

‘La Imatge Permanent,’ by graduate Laura Ferrés, is the major winner of the 68th edition of Seminci, the Valladolid International Film Week, one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe. It serves as a showcase for established authors and emerging talents from different latitudes to provide a diverse and versatile panorama of contemporary cinema. In this year’s edition, the film has been awarded the Golden Spike for Best Film.

Ferrés has become the first female filmmaker in the country to win this award. Additionally, this marks the second Golden Spike for a Spanish production in the almost seven decades of Seminci’s history, which is the highest honor given to feature films competing in the Official Section of the event.

La Imatge Permanent

‘La Imatge Permanent’ is Laura Ferrés’ debut film, and she graduated from ESCAC. She participated in our First Feature Film Laboratory and premiered the movie at the Locarno Festival, being the only Catalan or Spanish film selected for competition.

Synopsis

In a southern town, Antonia, a teenage mother, disappears in the middle of the night. Fifty years later and many kilometers to the north, Carmen, a somewhat introverted casting director, has to find people who can recount their memories after moving to a new city.
