Presentation

The Art Director is the professional responsible for the design and creation of the sets for all types of audiovisual productions. To do this, it is essential that they know how to interpret a script or a story in order to design the fictional universe of a film.

The Master’s Degree in Art Direction will train you to develop an artistic proposal from a film script or a novel, going through all its development stages. To do this, we provide you with the necessary tools to carry out the visual narrative of a film, as well as the technical particularities of the art direction profession and its execution.

Objectives and Skills

The main objective of this course is to introduce students to the world of film art direction. The student will learn about the work process of an art director and will be able to carry out an artistic proposal based on a narrative text. They will also learn how to design the aesthetic proposal of a film, the general visual concept up to its concretion in a specific set and the character design.

At the end of the master’s degree, the student will be able to:

  • Work on originality in the development and application of ideas that make up the visual result of the film.
  • Create atmospheres that contribute to the shaping of emotion.
  • Conceive, design and develop the space, costumes and props of an audiovisual work and adequately transmit the result of the project to the feature film team.
  • Coordinate the spatial design of a project: setting, scenery and objects.
  • Manage the art budget and the work schedule, seeking to optimise time and resources.
