The director and professor of directing, Celia Rico Clavellino, has come to ESCAC to present her debut film Viaje al cuarto de una madre, a drama about maternal and filial relationships starring Lola Dueñas and Ana Castillo.
Written, directed and produced by Celia Rico herself, it also has the Production Master alumni Mar Medir as Executive Producer.
Celia Rico had written and directed the short film Luisa no está en casa, winner of the Gaudí Award for Best Short Film, and worked as assistant director on Claudia Llosa’s No llores, vuela.
The film, which opens in cinemas on 5 October, was presented at the 66th San Sebastian Film Festival (New Directors), and won a Special Jury Mention, the Fedeora European Critics’ Award and the Youth Award.
Synopsis
Leonor (Anna Castillo) wants to leave home, but she doesn’t dare tell her mother. Estrella (Lola Dueñas) doesn’t want her to leave, but neither is she able to keep her by her side. Mother and daughter will have to face this new stage of life in which their world together is shaken.
