From 12 to 22 September, Sala Flyhard will host the show Karaoke (カラオケ), written and directed by the 4th year students of the ESCAC scriptwriting speciality, tutored by Marc Angelet and Sergi Corbera, with set design by the art direction students and collaboration of the photography and construction departments.
Karaoke (カラオケ) is one of the two plays that ESCAC is presenting this year, following the premiere last June of La pared at the Sala Atrium.
Karaoke is performed by Belén Barenys, Joan Esteve, Junyi Sun and Laura Weissmahr, and represents the first collaboration between ESCAC and Sala Flyhard in Barcelona, with the aim of building bridges between theatre and the audiovisual sector, both formally and thematically.
Synopsis
The (chaos) distorts everything. Or perhaps it reveals the (real), that which was already there…
Three young aspirants to a prestigious conservatory in Tokyo go to (karaoke) on what will probably be their last night in Japan. They could spend (the whole night) oblivious to the fact that they may never see each other again because they have not all been selected for the conservatory; they could pretend that they are all friends and that they want to leave any differences behind and just have a good time, sing songs and let the (time) run out until dawn. But maybe we have to raise astral chants to the (sky), face the madness of individuals (trapped) in meaninglessness, polish the katana we all carry inside us and ask ourselves if we are this person who is (here) in a karaoke bar in Tokyo tonight, the one who manages to get to the dream conservatory, or the one who is going home tomorrow by plane. And what we will put to our (name) of subtitle.
Karaoke (カラオケ) will open on 12 September at the Sala Flyhard and will run for only two weeks.
