This has been the first nomination and first Goya for Laura Pedro, who has become the first woman to win the Goya in the speciality of effects supervisor. Laura Pedro is a graduate of the first graduating class of the school’s VFX speciality.
This is the second Goya Award for Lluis Rivera, who was already nominated in 2014 for Los últimos días and won the Goya along with fellow graduate Lluís Castells in 2016 for Anacleto: agente secreto. Lluis Rivera graduated in sound and became a visual effects specialist. Founder of the company In Extremis Film Services.
Both won the Gaudí Award for the same work a week ago.
In addition to Laura Pedro and Lluís Rivera, who had a double nomination in the special effects category, two other alumni, graduate Edu Grau (Photo) and Master in Directing alumni Andrea Jaurrieta (New Director) were nominated in this edition.
ESCAC graduates and alumni have so far achieved more than 40 nominations and 21 Goya Awards.
