Tomàs Pladevall, one of the most representative and prolific directors of photography in Catalan and Spanish cinema, yesterday gave his last class at the school.
A teacher at ESCAC since the beginning, and one of the most beloved by the whole community, he said an emotional farewell to his last students of the Master in Photography Direction, accompanied by the director of the school Sergi Casamitjana, the coordinator of the Master Jordi Bransuela and the head of resources of ESCAC David Planagumà, both graduates of the first promotion, as well as much of the teaching staff and staff of the school.
His work alongside directors such as Francesc Bellmunt, Gonzalo Herralde, Jaime Camino, José Maria Nunes, Bigas Luna, Carlos Benpar, Ventura Pons, Pere Portabella, Rosa Vergés, Manuel Huerga and José Luis Gerín earned him the Premi Sant Jordi de Cinematografia in 1999. Pladevall was the driving force behind the Spanish Cinematography Association (AEC) and the Catalan Film Academy, of which he has been an honorary member since 2013.
