2nd Sessions of the Ópera Prima Laboratory at the Sitges Film Festival

Escac is holding the second face-to-face meeting of the Ópera Prima 2022 Laboratory, a programme that works on the development of six different projects over six months, within the framework of the Sitges Film Festival.

– The participants will have the opportunity to take part in different masterclasses and workshops with Kike Maíllo, David Serrano and producer Gustavo Ferrada, as well as to present their projects to the industry.

As the second on-site activity of the Lab, its members will participate in the Ópera Prima Conference that will take place at the Sitges Film Festival from 7 to 10 October. After the first training sessions focused on marketing and audiovisual exploitation, in these second sessions the focus will be on scriptwriting and development. The masterclasses with directors Kike Maíllo (Eva, Cosmética del enemigo, El Falsificador) and David Serrano (El otro lado de la cama, Días de futbol, Voy a pasármelo bien) will be from the director’s point of view, the workshop with producer Gustavo Ferrada (Los Otros, Klaus, Crimen ferpecto, Caja 507) will focus on the figure of the executive producer as creator and finally Oliver Lupiáñez will give a masterclass on green filming.

Over the last few months, the six projects selected as part of ESCAC’s Opera Prima Laboratory have been preparing new audiovisual material, which they will once again present to industry professionals such as Maite López Pisonero (Deputy Director of RTVE Cinema), Conxa Orea (Executive Producer – Departament Ficció i Cinema TV3), Mercedes Gamero (CEO Beta Fiction Spain), Pablo Nogueroles (General Director Beta Fiction Spain), Vicente Canales (Managing Director at Film Factory Entertainment), Laura Egidos, Jose Luís Hervías (Director of Film Factory Entertainment) and Laura Egidos (Director of Film Factory Entertainment), Jose Luís Hervías (Managing Director of Universal Pictures International Spain), Fernando Riera (Director of the Spanish Film Department at A Contracorriente), Adrià Mirò, Yolanda Del Val (Director of the Fiction Department at DeAPlaneta), Andrea Barrionuevo (Executive Producer at Atresmedia Cine), Andres Longares (Director of Local Production at Warner Bros), Gemma Pascual (Director of Development at Filmax), Carlota Caso (Expert in Film Distribution, Marketing and Sales) and Gustavo Ferrada (Executive Director of Fiction at Mediacrest).

Throughout the programme, the projects are also monitored by different tutors: producers Mercedes Gamero, Pablo Nogueroles, Sandra Tapia and Orlando Arriagada, screenwriters Michel Gaztambide, Tomàs Aragay and Laia Soler and directors Belén Funes and Mar Coll.

  • SALEN LAS LOBAS (Feature Fiction)
    Author: Claudia Estrada Tarascó.
    Producer: Alba Sotorra Clua and Mar Maduell.

The Ópera Prima Laboratory, which is financed by the ICAA and the Next Generation funds, is a programme open to new authors and producers of our cinematography so that they can develop their first feature films, series or products in new audiovisual formats, whether documentary or fiction, with the aim of being exploited industrially.
