Announcement from the UB on the use of masks in university spaces

20.04.22 - Covid-19,

A new resolution of the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, published today, abolishes the obligation to wear a face mask inside the University. This resolution, based on Royal Decree 286/2022 of 19 April, is in force as of today.

The use of the mask will continue to be compulsory in the Medical Services of the University of Barcelona. As for other areas, a series of recommendations have been established for the entire university community. The most basic ones are to maintain the maximum possible ventilation of the spaces and the usual hygiene measures.

At the same time, members of the university community who, according to the health system, are vulnerable to COVID-19, and also COVID-19 positive people with mild symptoms that do not require sick leave or personal leave, are asked to continue using the mask.

Finally, it is also recommended to use the mask in those face-to-face or group activities where ventilation conditions and minimum safety distance are not guaranteed, and in enclosed spaces such as lifts.
