Today, the nominations for the 33rd edition of the Goya Awards, presented by the ‘Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España’, were announced. The winners will be announced at the gala to be held in Seville on 2 February.
Best Special Effects:
Lluis Rivera was nominated in 2014 for Los últimos días and won the Goya along with fellow graduate Lluís Castells in 2016 for Anacleto: agente secreto. This is the first nomination for Laura Pedro who, if she wins, would be the first woman to do so.
Both have been nominated for the same work at the Catalan Film Academy’s Gaudí Awards.
Best cinematography:
Edu Grau was already nominated in 2011 for Buried.
Best New Director:
ESCAC graduates have so far achieved more than 40 nominations and 20 Goya Awards. Good luck to all of them!
