Presentation

The Master’s Degree in Film Directing provides students with the knowledge and techniques that will enable them to direct fictional audiovisual works in any format.

Students will learn and carry out the tasks of the director and the other members of the directing team in the preparation, shooting and post-production processes.

They will also gain a global knowledge of the tasks of the other members of an audiovisual production team – director of photography, art director, editor, sound designer, etc. – through the development of directed practical exercises and short films of their own creation, a practice that will be complemented with masterclasses given by professionals in the sector.

Final Master’s Degree Short Films

At the end of the Master’s course, students can submit individual or group short film projects to a pitching session. This session will be preceded by script tutoring sessions during the month following the end of the course period. Depending on their quality, and after selection by a panel of judges, two of them will go on to be produced by ESCAC Films with a schedule and an economic endowment adjusted to the characteristics of the proposals.

Objectives and Skills

At the end of the Master’s Degree, students will be able to:

  • Know and be able to use the mechanisms of audiovisual language to tell stories, regardless of the technological tools.
  • Carry out all the director’s tasks in the production of an audiovisual work: planning, carrying out and supervising the different production processes.
  • Know and be able to carry out the tasks of the rest of the members of the directing team.
  • Have sufficient knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of the tasks of the other departments involved in the production of an audiovisual work (direction of photography, art direction, editing, sound, etc.).
  • Be able to work as part of a team in the production of an audiovisual work, collaborating with others and leading a common project.
  • Have maturity and analytical rigour in the self-evaluation of the work developed, both on a personal level and as part of the team as a whole.
